About The Position

Performs venipunctures, heel sticks, and finger sticks to obtain blood samples for testing. Properly identifies patients and follows specimen-collection procedures. Processes and receives specimens into the laboratory according to protocols for specimen acceptability and rejection. Enters outpatient orders into the Laboratory Information System. Collects chain-of-custody drug screens for pre-employment, post-accident, and just-cause cases according to protocol. Assists with frozen sections and clerical duties as needed, and performs other related functions as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Documented evidence of the ability to perform waived testing.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Moderate knowledge of medical terminology.
• Current BLS certification.

Nice To Haves

• Completion of a formal phlebotomy training course from an accredited school or training program.
• One year of phlebotomy experience, including obtaining specimens from neonate, pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients.
