About The Position

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalent or equivalent.
• Able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on assigned unit/department.
• CPR or BLS certification required, must be obtained within 90 days of hire.

Nice To Haves

• MRI Level II-trained
• 1 year patient care experience preferred.
• Certification as a C.N.A in the State of Washington preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patient for diagnostic examination and assist technologist with limited procedures, under supervision.
• Greet patient and escort to appropriate exam room.
• Prepare and inform patients of exam procedure: Identify self, confirm name of patient and type of exam, explain the length of exam, and introduce technologist to the patient.
• Assist with transferring and positioning the patient safely and properly for examination, under the direct supervision of the technologist, if so assigned.
• Operate imaging equipment for assigned procedures, under direct supervision of the technologist, according to departmental procedures.
• Notify supervising technologist immediately of equipment problems.
• Assist technologist in processing images efficiently, both digital and hard copy.
• Complete daily work in a timely fashion within exam time-window.
• Transport patients, if so assigned, utilizing established patient transportation procedures and safety measures.
• Maintain observation of patient during transport. Notify nurse immediately if patient experiences distress or health problems.
• Maintain transport equipment; assure equipment is clean, in good working order, and prepared for transport use.
• Lift, position, and transfer patients, using safe-lifting techniques and tools.
• Use RIS/PACS effectively to input/order/edit/cancel exams.
• Accurately assist with data input (exam orders, patient data, patient charges, etc.) and required paperwork and records.
• Effectively use the computer and NWH software applications to access information.
• Exhibit excellent customer service skills with patients, physician office staff, coworkers, management, vendors, etc.
• Answer telephone using defined etiquette standards; transfer calls and take messages. Answer and troubleshoot questions and follow through on inquiries. Relay information to technical staff as appropriate.
• Assist in other areas (such as order entry, image library, scheduling, patient transport); work weekends, other shifts, holidays; and help co-workers with workload and projects.
• Set up exam rooms, ensuring all necessary equipment and supplies are ready.
• Inventory supplies and linens. Restock rooms as needed.
• Clean and tidy exam rooms, patient holding rooms, wait rooms, etc.
