About The Position

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for constructing, maintaining, and testing mechanical equipment, machinery, and components. This role involves identifying parts needing replacement, interpreting drawings to adjust, maintain, or repair machinery, and responding to production areas when mechanical issues arise. The technician will also perform preventive maintenance, communicate with production personnel to diagnose problems, and ensure assigned equipment is maintained according to schedule. A strong emphasis is placed on safety, with adherence to all safety policies and procedures, including lockout tagout, confined space, and fall protection. The role requires the ability to work on your feet for extended periods in specific temperature conditions and perform various physical tasks as needed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required
  • Minimum 1-2 years industrial maintenance experience
  • Knowledge of industrial manufacturing equipment
  • General mathematic ability required to perform job
  • Ability to read and interpret documents and drawings
  • Basic knowledge of standard and metric measures
  • Must be able to work assigned days/shifts (including some weekends)
  • Must be able to work in temperatures ranging from 40-50 degrees and/or the temperature equivalent outside temperatures on any given day
  • Must be able to grasp tools, bend, lift, squat, reach as needed dependent on the requirements of the task at hand
  • Team member will be on their feet up to 12 hours in any given shift with provided 2-30 minute breaks

Nice To Haves

  • Technical school preferred
  • Electrical experience a plus

Responsibilities

  • Construct, maintain and test mechanical equipment, machinery and components
  • Identify parts or machines needing new or replacement parts
  • Utilize shop mathematics to complete assignments
  • Interpret drawings of equipment in order to properly adjust, maintain or repair machinery
  • Respond to requests by production area when mechanical issues with equipment have been identified
  • Communicate with production management and personnel to diagnose problems and to determine potential mechanical problems
  • Perform preventive maintenance
  • Complete assigned tasks with accuracy and efficiency, in regards to time as well as resources
  • Maintain the preventive maintenance schedule assigned to the equipment
  • Perform maintenance repairs and adjustments in assigned operations area during operational hours
  • Complete daily assigned tasks
  • Perform motor repair
  • Perform voltage notification on equipment
  • Utilize safety policies and procedures each and every time to ensure safe work environment--lockout tagout, confined space, fall protection
  • Ensure compliance with Pilgrim’s food safety program
  • Perform other duties assigned by supervisor or manager
