About The Position
VG Meats is looking for a passionate and skilled Cook to join our team in Stoney Creek. This is a unique hybrid role that blends culinary expertise with retail engagement. You’ll play a key part in delivering high-quality food experiences while supporting both kitchen and retail operations. We’re looking for someone who is: A critical thinker and problem-solver Passionate about food quality and sustainability Comfortable working across kitchen and customer-facing environments Motivated to contribute to a regenerative food system
Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of commercial cooking experience, OR
- Experience in a retail food environment
- Strong understanding of food preparation, safety, and kitchen operations
- Excellent time management and organizational skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook a variety of dishes to high quality standards
- Execute special menu items as directed by management
- Support and oversee daily kitchen operations
- Maintain inventory and track food, supplies, and equipment
- Ensure all kitchen, storage, and prep areas are clean and sanitized
- Assist with menu planning, portioning, and food cost control
- Set up and maintain attractive food displays
- Serve and engage with customers in a retail setting
- Provide product recommendations and drive sales through suggestive selling
