About The Position
Performs a variety of duties related to the knowledge of aseptic sampling procedures and basic sample handling procedures; understanding of chain-of-custody and laboratory safety protocol; and the ability to operate sensitive electronic equipment in performing colorimetric analytical procedures.
Requirements
- High school diploma (preference will be given to candidates with knowledge of or coursework in Biology, Microbiology, or Chemistry)
- An equivalent combination of education and experience.
Responsibilities
- Record analytical results using internet-based software
- Perform water sample analyses
- Communicate accurate reports to clients
- Ensure samples are stored, transported, and submitted to the lab properly
- Participate in Department emergency preparedness drills as needed
- Extensive travel (driving) throughout Washington, Iron, Garfield, Beaver, and Kane Counties may be required as part of main functions
- Assist Environmental Health personnel in performing laboratory functions
- Entering lab sample data accurately on lab reports and using department software
- Collect swimming pool samples
- Analyze water samples
