Requirements

  • 4-year Biology Degree or Chemistry degree
  • 1-3 years of experience in Manufacturing, Engineering and/or Quality; specifically in a laboratory setting.
  • Ability to develop, update and train on SOPs.
  • Competent to learn to prior knowledge of ISO standards and Quality Management Systems (QMS).
  • Good organizational skills; strong time management skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to follow detailed directions.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a medical, pharmaceutical or biotechnology environment preferred
  • Previous cell culture or microbiology laboratory experience preferred
  • SAP and/or PeopleSoft experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of computer programs, such as Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Perform and review biological/microbiological testing including USP/EP/ 9CFR sterility, bacteriastasis/fungistasis, bioburden, endotoxin, USP/EP growth promotion, within Class 1,000 / Class 100 cleanroom areas.
  • Perform and review environmental / personnel monitoring of cleanrooms including viable and non-viable air sampling and surface sampling to evaluate cleanliness.
  • Maintain and organize test results to support trend monitoring.
  • Perform and review applicable tests for RO / DI water systems of the site.
  • Perform and review applicable wet biochemistry / chemistry testing on raw materials and finished products.
  • Perform and review biochemical assays including hemoglobin, total protein, Iron Fortification / Iron Assay, and etc.
  • Perform and review cell culture testing including performance testing, growth promotion testing, trypsinization, and other protocols as required.
  • Submit product samples for applicable biochemistry / chemistry / virus testing at third party contract test laboratories and review received results for accuracy.
  • Manages and distributes manufacturing samples to retention/stability storage (as appropriate) and staging locations for post-production testing.
  • Perform and review verification of calibration and preventive maintenance of equipment and keep the equipment in general working order within the laboratory. Maintain associated records.
  • Compile and organize quality control related documentation and ensure all documents are filed in a manner that allows for easy access for regulatory and customer audits.
  • Conducts incoming QC inspection and release of raw materials upon receipt.
  • Assists with management critical dates of quality department deliverables and drive for on-time closure (i.e., release turnaround time, OOS investigations, nonconformances, CAPAs, etc.).
  • Oversee controlled records management, including document control logging, scanning, and filing (i.e. calibration records, water testing, raw material CoAs, etc.) in a timely and efficient manner that allows for easy access for regulatory and customer audits.
  • Conduct the review and revision of procedures, specifications and forms as needed.
