About The Position
US 1 Shorthaul is growing its Travel Yard Driver Division and is looking for top-tier CDL A drivers who excel at yard spotting, hostling, and precision backing. This role involves drop & hook only, with no freight handling. Drivers will execute high-volume, precision trailer moves in fast-paced yard environments, spot, hostle, and switch 48’–53’ trailers safely and efficiently, conduct yard audits and pre/post-trip inspections, and operate yard trucks and day cabs at customer sites nationwide. The role supports sites across the U.S., requiring flexibility and adaptability, with drivers on the road up to 90% of the time. This is not OTR freight.
Requirements
- Valid CDL Class A
- 18 months verifiable experience (OTR or qualifying local/yard experience)
- Proven experience backing 48’–53’ trailers to dock doors
- No preventable DOT accidents in the past 3 years
- Clean Clearinghouse & acceptable PSP
- Ability to work different shifts, climates, and locations
- Must pass background check and drug screening
