About The Position

Requirements

• Repeated physical effort including driving for several hours per day or several hours at a time
• Standing and walking for extended periods of time (more than several hours)
• Loading and unloading equipment into and out of company vehicles
• Walking on varying ground surfaces
• Frequently lifting a minimum of 50 pounds
• Working from elevated platforms, ladders or truck beds
• Operating hand/power tools
• Manual dexterity to operate keyboards and smart phones
• Physical agility to use arms, legs and hands repetitively
• Working outdoors, working safely under adverse environmental and weather conditions which include high speed traffic areas, heavy construction equipment, fuel fumes and construction substances
• Comfortable around vehicles moving through work zones and maintaining constant awareness of surroundings on construction site including placement of machinery and equipment, other employees and construction activities
• Vision adequate to see moving vehicles, read highway construction MOT signs, read instructions, manuals, reports, and construction plans
• Hearing adequate to hear approaching vehicles, audible commands at a distance from supervisors, conversations in person, and over the telephone
• Communicating clearly - both written and verbally
• Ability to complete daily paperwork as required by supervisor
• Working a flexible schedule which can include day or night shifts, weekends and/or holidays
• Adjusting to a changing work schedule
• Working overtime
• Working individually and as a team with other employees
• Valid driver's license required
• Passing MVR and controlled substance test
• May require background and criminal record check
• Knowledge of local driving rules and regulations
• Must maintain company standards post-employment for background checks, criminal record, driving record and controlled substance

Nice To Haves

• Highway Sign assembly and installation experience preferred
• MOT Advanced certification

Responsibilities

• Creating and installing roadway signs
• Preparing, repairing and installing traffic signs and pavement marking on highways, bridges, bicycle paths and other various roadways
• Performing a variety of tasks related to highway maintenance and sign installation
• Adhering to applicable federal, state and local regulations as well as policies and procedures and safety guidelines
• Reading and interpreting plans, drawings and specifications
• Transporting materials, tools and equipment to/from installation sites
• Cutting materials to specified sizes for installation by use of power tools
• Assembling and installing signs adjacent to high-volume roadways using pneumatic tools and equipment ensuring that signs are placed in proper locations
• Driving a vehicle properly and safely
• Operating tools properly and safely
• Setting up traffic control if required
• Safely lifting, moving, or carrying objects weighing 50 lbs
• Performing all other duties as assigned
