About The Position

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy degree.
• Current registration as a Registered Pharmacist in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
• Extensive knowledge and ability in department areas including IV admixtures, drug information, ambulatory pharmacy, manufacturing, and drug distribution.
• Attention to detail.
• Knowledge of growth and development principles across the lifespan, including neonates, adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients; ability to assess patient data for age-specific needs and provide care according to department policies and procedures.
• Ability to work relatively independently.
• Familiarity with pharmacy practice settings, legal requirements and limitations, prescription information and calculations, drug identification and generic equivalents, drug manufacturing, packaging and labeling information, and proper drug handling and storage practices.
• Complete 20 continuing education credits per year to maintain licensure.

Nice To Haves

• Doctor of Pharmacy degree.
• Massachusetts Controlled Substances Registration (MCSR).
• Two to three years of experience working as a pharmacist.

Responsibilities

• Optimize drug therapy by identifying, resolving, and preventing drug-related problems and improving therapeutic outcomes.
• Provide patient care in accordance with applicable state and federal laws and regulations governing pharmacy practice.
• May prescribe medications under specific collaborative drug therapy management agreements.
• Direct and coordinate the activities and delivery of pharmacy services.
• Supervise and verify the accuracy of work completed by support personnel during an assigned shift.
• Operate within pharmacy policies and procedures.
• Ensure compliance with target drug programs, formulary management, medication management initiatives, and adverse drug event monitoring programs.
• Document and report clinical interventions, medication errors, and adverse drug events.
• Participate in department quality improvement efforts.
• Train medical, nursing, and allied health professionals.
• Follow policies, procedures, laws, and regulations established by the Board of Pharmacy and other applicable regulatory agencies.
• Perform other duties as assigned and comply with all policies and standards.
