About The Position

Requirements

• IBCLC certification required.
• At least 1 year of Couplet Care experience required.
• Associate degree or diploma in nursing required.
• BLS certification required, including the specified training course; unit-specific certification is required as applicable.
• Arizona or compact-state registered nurse licensure required upon hire.
• For diploma or ADN hires: complete a BSN within 60 months of hire, or have at least 5 years of RN experience at the time of hire.
• For staff with direct responsibility for stroke patient care, applicable stroke-specific education requirements must be completed before starting.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
• National certification for the unit-specific patient population preferred.
• More than 10 months of med-surg or acute specialty setting experience listed as required experience.
• One year of RN experience required for all float positions.

Responsibilities

• Collect and analyze patient health data, prioritizing assessment according to the patient’s condition and involving the family.
• Develop, implement, evaluate, and revise individualized, family-centered plans of care and expected outcomes.
• Initiate and provide nursing interventions, treatments, medications, and emergency or resuscitative measures in accordance with standing orders and policies.
• Provide care addressing patients’ physical, emotional, spiritual, and social-cultural needs.
• Monitor patient progress and document observations, interventions, therapeutic measures, and other relevant care data.
• Educate patients and families about illness or injury management, post-treatment and home care, nutrition, exercise, medications, and therapies.
• Coordinate care with patients, families, physicians, and multidisciplinary healthcare providers.
• Provide direction to licensed practical nurses and nursing aides and delegate care when appropriate.
• Precept new hires and students and support competency development and the professional development of peers and other healthcare providers.
• Evaluate nursing practice and care quality, contribute to evidence-based standards and research integration, and identify strategies to improve nursing practice and patient outcomes.
• Use resources effectively and efficiently while considering safety, effectiveness, and cost in patient care.
