About The Position

Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) is seeking an RN IBCLC Lactation Consultant for its Mother Baby Obstetrics unit. This part-time night position involves applying in-depth knowledge of maternal and neonatal conditions affecting breastfeeding, assessing and managing complex lactation problems, and assisting mothers in achieving their breastfeeding goals. The role functions as a consultant, educator, and mentor to healthcare professionals and patients within a multi-disciplinary team. Requirements

International Board of Cert Lactation Consultants - Certification
LIC-Registered Nurse - Licensure
Relevant Work Experience
1 year experience
Bachelor's degree in Nursing (Required)

Responsibilities

Provides direct care for inpatient mother-baby couplets, and neonates.
Develops, organizes, implements, evaluates and revises preparation for childbirth, newborn care, sibling preparation, postpartum, and breastfeeding classes for expectant and new parents.
Develops, organizes, implements, evaluates and revises preceptorships, in-service programs, workshops and continuing education classes on topics related to breastfeeding management for nursing staff, medical staff, and students of health care-related fields (RN, ARNP, CNM, MD, RD, etc.) as well as staff education materials.
Assists in the management of the breast pump rental station.
Manages work flow in the perinatal education department.
