About The Position

The Internationally Board-Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) reports to the Regional Director of Women’s Health. They will provide support, education and information regarding breastfeeding to patients and families. They will assist patients with the establishment of lactation, identify and aid in resolution of breastfeeding difficulties, develop care plans with staff to meet patient’s individual needs, provide follow-up through phone calls or private consultations in an inpatient or outpatient setting. Provides information and education regarding breastfeeding to all appropriate staff and assists in the development of polices and protocols and works collaboratively with the members of the lactation team in the Backus Hospital as well as throughout the system.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree required
  • One (1) year experience as International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC)
  • Current unrestricted license in good standing to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Connecticut
  • Current certification as International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC)
