About The Position

Requirements

• 5 years of experience playing league hockey.
• USA Hockey registered member
• Willing to become a level 1 USA Hockey Certified coach, which includes continuing coaching education.
• Applicants must be able to pass: City of Boise background check processes which includes a criminal history check and reference checks in accordance with the City of Boise Hiring Process Regulation
• Knowledge of ice hockey rules and regulations.
• Knowledge of fundamentals of ice hockey to include skating, shooting, passing, etc.
• Knowledge of general customer service techniques.
• Ability to interpret and apply various rules and regulations.
• Ability to maintain good relations with coaches, officials, parents, and players.
• Ability to display an attitude of cooperation and work harmoniously with all levels of City employees, the general public and other organizations.
• Ability to communicate effectively in the English language at a level necessary for efficient job performance.
• Ability to complete assignments in a timely fashion.
• Ability to understand and comply with all rules, policies and regulations.
• Ability to maintain prompt and regular attendance.
• Ability to perform all essential and marginal functions as assigned by an authorized employee, supervisor and/or manager with or without a reasonable accommodation.

Responsibilities

• Instructs and coaches adult and youth hockey classes and teams.
• Follows plans from the Hockey Department.
• Prepares ice for practice by checking nets and ice for safety hazards.
• Answers questions from parents, guardians, and players regarding practice plans.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
