About The Position

Requirements

• Must be a born-again believer in Jesus Christ; be involved with an evangelical, protestant church of like faith and practice; and agree with the philosophies, Statement of Faith, and Statement of Christian Life Commitment of Southside Christian School.
• Must be a spiritually mature, veteran Christian coach who agrees with the school's Mission, Vision, Values, Biblical Beliefs, Statement of Christian Life Commitment , and Statement of Faith .
• Must be a person with proven spiritual, moral, and leadership qualities, and be capable of developing a strong rapport with fellow coaches and student athletes and the SCS community.
• Must be able work in challenging conditions related to the cheer which may include varying temperatures and precipitation.
• Must be able to demonstrate techniques and skills of cheer.
• Must be physically active for extended periods, including standing, walking, and moving around the field or court.
• Must be able to lift and carry equipment related to the sport.
• Must be able to visually monitor athletes for their safety, which can require good eyesight and the ability to stand for long periods.

Nice To Haves

• Experience and or training in competitive cheer is preferred

Responsibilities

• Help with athletic needs in seasons where they do not coach as a part of our overall athletic team.
• Attend meetings as required by the Head Coach or Executive Director of Athletics.
• Uphold and support the SCS school philosophy and athletic philosophy.
• Know and enforce the SCS Athletic Handbook and SCS Student and Family Handbook.
• Have their teams available for set up and take down of facilities when needed.
• Complete the NFHS online courses that are required by the SCHSL prior to the first day of practice.
• Complete CPR certification prior to the first day of practice as required by the SCHSL.
• Be aware of general SCHSL guidelines and those related to the sport.
• Drive the team (annually and one month prior to the coaching season, coaches must complete a packet to renew driving privileges).
• Knowing cheer routines.
