SENIOR PROJECT TECHNICIAN (ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN V)

About The Position
This position is accountable for supervising the construction of specially assigned highway construction projects within a specified geographical area of the district and/or supervising the construction of two or more moderately difficult projects. The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) is seeking to hire Senior Project Technicians. The IDOT team works diligently to provide safe, cost-effective transportation for Illinois in ways that enhance quality of life, promote economic prosperity and protect our environment. Requirements
- Completion of two years of college in civil engineering technology, pre-engineering or a job related technical/science curriculum PLUS six years engineering experience; OR Eight years of engineering experience.
- Requires a valid driverâs license.
- Requires districtwide travel.
- Requires successful completion of a background screening.
- Certain provisions of the revolving door restrictions contained in 5 ILCS 430/5-45 apply to this position.
- This position has been found to meet the requirements in section 4A-101 of the Illinois Governmental Ethics Act requiring the occupant/employee to file a Statement of Economic Interest.
- All employees required to file a Statement of Economic Interest are also required to file the Supplemental Statement of Economic Interest with the Executive Ethics Commission.

Responsibilities
- Ensures projects are constructed to plans and specifications.
- Ensures complete, accurate, and timely documentation of all work to initiate payment to contracts.
- Trains, motivates, and evaluates assigned personnel.
- Responsible for time consideration on projects under their supervision.
- Responsible for equipment utilized by the department and staff.
- Performs duties in compliance with departmental safety rules.
- Performs all duties in a manner conducive to the fair and equitable treatment of all employees.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
