About The Position
Jetson is hiring a Master Electrician to support its home electrification work in Portland, Oregon. The role focuses on installing the electrical infrastructure needed for heat pump systems, including service and panel upgrades, and helping develop and improve Jetson’s installation processes. The electrician will work with installation crews and collaborate with the engineering team while converting homes from gas to electric systems.
Requirements
- Master Electrician license and ability to pull permits across Oregon jurisdictions.
- Deep residential installation experience, including service upgrades, panel work, and large load additions such as heat pumps and EV chargers.
- Fluency with smart panels, including Span, Leviton, and Schneider, as well as splitters and sub-panel configurations.
- Ability to perform accurate load calculations using standard and optional methods.
- Comfort working in older homes and handling legacy wiring.
- Experience coordinating with HVAC crews or working on multi-trade jobs.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to diagnose and resolve problems methodically.
- Physical stamina for hands-on residential installation work.
- Valid driver's license.
- Follow OSHA Electrical Standard.
- Follow OSHA's Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) standard.
Nice To Haves
- Prior experience with heat pump or HVAC-related electrical installations.
- Familiarity with cold-climate heat pump systems.
- Experience on gas-to-electric conversion projects.
- Actively staying current on electrification codes and equipment trends.
Responsibilities
- Install electrical infrastructure required to support heat pump systems.
- Perform load calculations and design code-compliant solutions.
- Upgrade main electrical panels as needed, including smart panels, splitters, and sub-panel configurations.
- Pull permits and manage the inspection process across Oregon jurisdictions.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and electrical diagrams.
- Troubleshoot on-site electrical issues and perform necessary repairs.
- Coordinate with HVAC installation crews and collaborate across trades.
- Perform preventive maintenance and flag potential issues.
- Test electrical systems for functionality, performance, and code compliance.
- Identify recurring installation inefficiencies and bring proposed solutions to the team.
- Maintain compliance with the NEC and local electrical codes.
