About The Position
This position is responsible for executing a daily plan for movement of all freight within an assigned area. The role involves partnering with the terminal manager to plan and carry out shipping operations, monitoring daily delivery schedules for drivers, and organizing/sorting incoming mail and paperwork. Key duties include verifying driver paperwork, scanning documents into the dispatch system, data entry for driver pay (detention, hourly, layovers, breakdowns), receiving customer orders and creating loads, and providing frontline customer service. The dispatcher will also handle incoming phone calls, communicate effectively with various stakeholders, monitor emails for orders and team communication, and provide administrative support including payroll and billing. On-call duties are also a requirement.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 2 years of dispatching experience
- Excellent conflict resolution and skills
- Effective oral, written and interpersonal communication skills
Responsibilities
- Partner with terminal manager to plan and carry out shipping operations
- Monitor daily delivery schedule for drivers
- Organize and sort incoming mail and paperwork
- Verify driver paperwork for each load
- Image/Scan documents into the dispatch system
- Data entry of driver detention pay, calculate hourly pay, layovers, breakdowns
- Receive orders from customers and create loads in dispatch system
- Provide frontline customer service for existing accounts
- Answer all incoming phone calls promptly and courteously
- Communicate effectively with customers, drivers, dispatchers, and other departments to ensure smooth and efficient operations
- Monitor e-mail for incoming orders, communication between team members
- Admin support including payroll and billing
- On-call duties as needed
