About The Position

This position is responsible for answering all 911 calls and dispatching the appropriate responders; answering and monitoring all radio traffic on all talk groups; answering administrative phone lines; creating Initial Complaint Reports; assisting correctional officers; and performing inmate searches as requested.

Requirements

  • High school diploma and at least one year of related experience.
  • Valid MN Driver's License.
  • EMD Certification

Responsibilities

  • Answers 911 emergency calls by recognizing correct ringtone, utilizing appropriate software and systems, gathering caller information, and dispatching appropriate law enforcement agency(ies) and first responders.
  • Answers all multi-line business/administrative phone calls by recognizing correct ringtone, connecting caller to the correct agency /individual when appropriate, and/or providing information as needed.
  • Monitors and transmits on multi-channel radio communications by using the radio console, switching channels as appropriate, and using the correct 1 O code/ verbiage to relay and respond to information
  • Pages out ambulance, fire and rescue departments, and law enforcement agencies by identifying the appropriate agency(ies) and using the correct communications response system(s), i.e., radio, email, pager
  • Creates initial complaint reports by entering caller information into the Computer Aided Dispatch system, determine the appropriate agency(ies) and/or responders, and relay that information to the correct agency
  • Visually monitor & control access to Law Enforcement Center, Jail, and Court House secured areas by utilizing a multi-view camera system and Integrator system to control doors, intercoms, and cameras
  • Visually monitoring jail inmate activities by utilizing multi-view camera system to ensure inmate safety and jail staff safety and to ensure inmates are adhering to the facility rules.
  • Request and/or confirm warrant status of individuals by sending the appropriate communications and documentation utilizing Portals, fax, phone, and/or radio to relay the warrant status
  • Monitor law enforcement agency personnel to ensure officer safety by performing status checks via Computer Aided Dispatch at regular intervals when personnel are located outside of the Law Enforcement Center
  • Train dispatch candidates on duties, policies, and procedures of the dispatch center to ensure the communications needs of the Law Enforcement center are met
  • Performs other duties of a comparable level/type, as required.
