About The Position

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s degree in Nutrition and Dietetics or Nutrition-related field required.
• Three years of clinical nutrition experience required.
• A thorough knowledge of clinical nutrition in area of specialty.
• Able to read; write legibly; speak in English (and Spanish preferred) with professional quality.
• Able to use computer and software programs necessary to the position.
• Able to troubleshoot and calibrate patient care equipment.
• Able to relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others.
• Able to be assertive and consistent in following and/or enforcing policies.
• Able to work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure.
• Able to lead, supervise, teach, and collaborate.
• Able to accept direction.
• Able to communicate effectively in English in person, in writing, and on the telephone.

• Certification from Commission on Dietetic registration (RD/RDN) required.
• Board Certified Specialty certification required within one year of hire or transfer, for outpatient clinic positions only.

Responsibilities

• Completing inpatient and outpatient nutritional assessments and reassessments for patients in specialty areas.
• Works collaboratively with health care team members to implement nutrition interventions.
• Coordinates the nutrition care of the patient.
• Provides specialized nutrition education to patients/family members in individual and/or group setting.
• Arranges for outpatient referral to specialty clinic if necessary.
• Attends and participates in patient care meetings, team meetings, and quality meetings as assigned.
• Provides in-services and lectures to clinical staff.
• Mentors clinical dietitians and other health care team members to improve performance standards.
• Participates in educating dietetic and medical students.
• Serves as a consultant for interns, residents, fellows and attending physicians.
• Performs other duties as needed.
