About The Position

The Diesel Service Technician is responsible for performing maintenance and repair orders on Diesel Vehicles with efficiency and in accordance with dealership and/or Factory standards. This role involves diagnosing and repairing various vehicle systems including engine, transmission, electrical, steering, suspension, braking, and air conditioning. The technician will also provide labor and time estimates for repairs, explain diagnoses and required repairs to service advisors and customers in a non-technical manner, and continuously learn new technical information and techniques through formal training to stay updated with rapidly changing technology. Additionally, the technician will inspect and test new vehicles and record findings for necessary repairs.

Requirements

  • Experienced and aware of the latest automotive technologies.
  • Persistent problem solver.
  • Factory Diesel Certified technicians HIGHLY preferred.
  • All Factory certified technicians considered and are encouraged to apply.
  • Willing to talk to recent tech school graduates.
  • Must hold a valid driver’s license.
  • Good driving record required.
  • Team oriented, flexible and focused on maintaining a high level of customer service.
  • Working knowledge of shop equipment such as wheel and tire equipment, alignment system, diagnostic equipment, AC equipment, etc.
  • Experience in performing warranty and non-warranty inspections, diagnostic, maintenance, and repair service on various vehicle makes and models.
  • Proven track record of achieving or over-achieving goals.
  • Outstanding communication skills.
  • Professional appearance and work ethic.
  • Great attitude with a high-energy personality.
  • Superior customer service skills.
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions.
  • Ability to exercise good judgement.
  • Valid State drivers license and good driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Perform work specified on maintenance and repair orders on Diesel Vehicles with efficiency and in accordance with dealership and/or Factory standards.
  • Diagnose and repair vehicle automotive systems including engine, transmission, electrical, steering, suspension, braking, air conditioning, etc. to specification.
  • Provide labor and time estimates for additional automotive repairs.
  • Explain diesel mechanical diagnoses and required repairs in a non-technical manner to service advisors and customers.
  • Continuously learn new technical information and techniques in formal training sessions to stay abreast with rapidly changing technology.
  • Inspect and test new vehicles and record findings so that necessary repairs can be made.
