About The Position

Requirements

• Experience in dental office practices and procedures and routine chairside assisting.
• Current Basic Life Support.

• Courses in dental offices practices and clinical procedures may be used in lieu of experience.
• Demonstrates clinical competency in caring for patients as identified in unit’s Scope of Care.
• Demonstrates competency in the care of the patient in the following stages of the life cycle: infants, children, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics.
• Effectively responds to customer service needs.
• Demonstrates effective age and culturally appropriate interaction with patients, families, and other members of the health care team.
• Adheres to University of Toledo Customer Service values.
• Seeks out ways to assist patients and co-workers.
• Actively participates in performance improvement activities as related to job duties.

Responsibilities

• Perform chair-side duties which include seating the patient
• Take and develop x-rays
• Assist the dentist or dental hygienist by aspirating fluids and handing instruments during treatment
• Clean and sterilize instruments and trays
• Set up operatory prior to treatment
• Clean up operatory after treatment
• Answer phones
• Make appointments
• Maintain patient records
• Maintain supply inventory
