About The Position

Requirements

• Experience preferred in housekeeping of a commercial facility.
• Must have a clear understanding of the importance of cleanliness and how it relates to member retention and success of the YMCA.
• Must have a clear understanding of the importance of quality customer service.
• Must have a caring and positive attitude towards his or her work.
• Sufficient physical strength and agility to carry out essential duties.
• Ability to work with cleaning equipment, chemical compounds, solvents, cleaners, and solutions in dry, liquid, powder, spray, and aerosol forms.
• Ability to work in conditions that will create dirt and dust.
• Ability to perform essential maintenance to facility or equipment which may involve, but not limited to the following activities: semi-reaching to full-reach overhead; crouching, kneeling; carrying; working in narrow and/or confining spaces; twisting of the waist, shoulders, and legs; and laying on stomach and/or back.
• Must be able to comprehend and communicate written and verbal instructions.

Responsibilities

• Ensures the Female locker rooms, bathrooms, and other areas are attractive and clean by completing all duties listed on the daily schedule.
• Maintains upkeep of assigned areas and equipment.
• May perform wet and dust mopping, dusting, trash removal, recycling, cleaning, window washing, vacuuming, and general cleaning.
• Exhibits a positive attitude towards other staff and members.
• Ensures YMCA building and property is secure during shift and report incidents and hazardous conditions to supervisor.
• Ensure personal health by wearing gloves and using cleaning products properly.
• Replaces soap, paper towels, and other supplies.
• May help set up furniture for events.
• Assist Property Director with preventative maintenance.
• Assist with general upkeep of the grounds.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Must be able to complete and maintain certification in CPR and First Aid; able to assist individuals in need until professional help arrives.
• Ability to quickly identify emergency situations (medical, fire, environmental, etc.) and respond appropriately following established procedures.
• Required to report all safety incidents and hazards immediately and accurately to supervisors.
• Commitment to maintaining a safe, clean, and hazard-free environment for all staff, members, and participants.
• Must be able to perform physical tasks related to safety, including assisting individuals of various ages and physical abilities.
• Follow all YMCA safety protocols, OSHA standards, and state/local regulations as applicable.
