About The Position

The Asset Protection Operations Center Investigator monitors Nordstrom alarm systems, supports overnight business operations, calls for assistance and provides basic Asset Protection support to corporate employees on alarm details. This role is a valuable team member who monitors alarm trends and potential risks. From the remote AP Operations Center this employee also supports assigned activities within other programs across the Asset Protection organization.

Requirements

  • Basic computer knowledge and experience using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Good situational awareness and ability to adapt to changing environments/needs
  • Background in security systems
  • 2 years in service-based security operations preferred
  • Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and planning skills
  • Actively participates and collaborates with others on one's own team and cross-divisionally for the achievement of business goals
  • Uses innovative thinking, and sound judgment in the solution of problems or the pursuit of business opportunities
  • Executes effectively by using resources efficiently, meeting deadlines, and keeping others informed of work plans and progress toward goals
  • Builds rapport with all kinds of people inside and outside the organization
  • Strong collaboration and de-escalation skills
  • Good situational awareness and ability to adapt to changing environments/needs
  • Ability to maintain a calm presence in the face of issues, disasters, trauma, etc. in support of your team and to drive the necessary support to ensure the best outcome for the issue(s) and/or incident(s) under your watch.
  • Intermediate experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, the Internet, and Access Control Systems

Responsibilities

  • Monitor computer terminal(s) for third party access, security, intrusion, and any building alarms.
  • Maintain a daily log of events during assigned shift and escalate to appropriate partners as needed.
  • Monitor critical incidents in real-time and response to emergency situations including in-progress acts of violence, crisis, and any other incidents posing hazard to lives and property.
  • Utilize appropriate escalation approaches and follow established best practices
  • Collect documentation for security incidents including reviewing and saving CCTV (Closed Circuit Television) video and completion of appropriate written documentation.
  • Remotely supports access control environments including security cameras, burglar alarm, access control (including credential administration), and key/core hardware administration.
  • Support projects that leverage the physical security infrastructures
  • Look for opportunities to improve overall safety; work with teammates to investigate daily issues, identify discrepancies and address opportunities for improvement
  • Provide support for security related concerns, requests, and questions for all Nordstrom properties as needed
