About The Position

Requirements

• Prior coaching experience at the high school, collegiate, and/or studio/club level.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Excellent customer service, communication, and staff relations skills.
• Knowledge of and commitment to the mission of Marian University.

Responsibilities

• Assist in developing and implementing a successful cheerleading program aligned with the university’s mission and values.
• Support recruitment and retention of student-athletes to build a competitive team and contribute to enrollment goals.
• Assist with planning and conducting practices, cheerleading routines, and game-day performances.
• Provide leadership, mentorship, and guidance to student-athletes athletically, academically, personally, and spiritually.
• Support compliance with NJCAA and MCCAA rules and regulations.
• Collaborate and communicate with athletic department staff, academic advisors, faculty, and other campus stakeholders.
• Assist with team budget management and travel arrangements as directed by the Athletic Director.
• Support promotion of the cheerleading program through community engagement.
• Attend coaches’ meetings and training when required or needed.
• Assist with coordinating meal and food arrangements with campus food services, including weekends and team travel.
• Monitor student-athletes’ grades and attendance weekly and promptly report challenges or concerns to the Athletic Director.
• Support coordination of lodging and transportation, including scheduling vehicles with campus maintenance/operations and the Athletic Director.
• Assist with submitting purchase orders and supply requests by established deadlines through the proper procedures and the Assistant Athletic Director.
• Complete NJCAA compliance and eligibility training required for MU coaches beginning in Fall 2026.
• Participate in sport-specific fundraising and athletic department fundraising initiatives as assigned by the Athletic Director.
• Comply with Marian University employee and athletics policies and procedures, and with applicable federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations.
• Perform other reasonable duties assigned by the Athletic Director.
• Work the hours necessary to perform job requirements satisfactorily on a regular basis and manage absences responsibly to ensure service to clients, work teams, and coworkers.
• Follow Marian University policies and practices and seek clarification when necessary.
