We’re seeking an experienced Analytical Chemist to support organics and PFAS testing in our environmental laboratory in Reading, PA. In this role, you will perform analytical testing, method development, and data validation on water and wastewater samples for PFAS and other organic analytes, ensuring the accuracy and quality our clients rely on for regulatory compliance and decision-making. Using advanced extraction techniques and instrumentation, you will generate precise, defensible data in a fast-paced laboratory environment. You will also contribute to method optimization and continuous improvement initiatives while maintaining data integrity within LIMS and adhering to QA/QC standards to deliver reliable, high-quality results.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Environmental Science, or related scientific field
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with LC-MS/MS (strongly preferred), GC-MS, or GC instrumentation
  • Demonstrated experience in PFAS and/or organic analytical testing, including sample preparation, and extraction techniques (e.g., SPE)
  • Proven experience supporting method optimization and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Ability to interpret quality control (QC) data and implement appropriate corrective actions
  • Proficiency with LIMS and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)

Responsibilities

  • Perform sample preparation and analysis in accordance with EPA methods, SOPs, and QA/QC protocols
  • Conduct testing for PFAS compounds and other organic analytes using LC-MS/MS instrumentation
  • Execute extraction techniques, including solid phase extraction (SPE) and related methodologies
  • Operate, calibrate, and maintain LC-MS/MS systems to ensure optimal performance and data quality
  • Perform quality control checks, calibrations, and preventative maintenance
  • Review and validate analytical data, identifying trends and out-of-specification results
  • Document results in LIMS, ensuring data integrity, traceability, and compliance
  • Maintain chain-of-custody and sample tracking documentation
  • Troubleshoot routine instrumentation and method issues
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and compliant laboratory environment
  • Perform other duties as assigned
