About The Position

Requirements

• National Guard membership is required, with a compatible military assignment in the employing state’s National Guard before the effective date of placement.
• Applicants not currently in the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard.
• Must be eligible for the military grade listed for the position: enlisted E1–E7.
• Must wear the military uniform.
• Federal employment suitability is determined by a background investigation.
• Must have experience or training removing and replacing aircraft parts, accessories, and components, and making adjustments and settings to established specifications.
• Must be skilled in the use of hand tools and test equipment.
• Must have experience or training installing, adjusting, aligning, troubleshooting, and functionally testing aircraft mechanical and pneudraulic systems during overhaul or modification.
• Must have experience coordinating mechanics’ work and scheduling maintenance to complete critical actions and support workflow.
• Must be able to instruct lower-graded mechanics, military personnel, and others in disassembling and reassembling crash-damaged engines, transmissions, gearboxes, hydraulic components, and fuel controls for return to a shipping container.
• Nominees must successfully complete a baseline initial employment physical examination.
• Accession is contingent upon verification of a Secret security clearance.
• Males born after December 31, 1959, must be registered for Selective Service.
• Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
• May be required to successfully complete a trial period.

Responsibilities

• Perform pre-inspection, daily, pre-flight, post-flight, and required special inspections on assigned aircraft.
• Conduct fuel contamination checks, oil sampling, and inspections of onboard emergency equipment.
• Check aircraft hydraulic, electrical, transmission, power, and other systems.
• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and perform unscheduled maintenance on assigned and transient aircraft.
• Perform additional duties as required, which may include firefighting, aircraft crash/rescue, and snow removal.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
