Yurt Experience Server & Guide
About The Position
The Yurt Experience Server & Guide supports a distinctive dining experience at The Yurt at Solitude Mountain, combining fine dining service, outdoor guiding, and logistical assistance in an alpine setting. The role is suited to a charismatic, professional, and engaging hospitality worker with food and wine knowledge who is comfortable working in snowy, rugged conditions. Working alongside a chef and support person, the server helps prepare the Yurt in the afternoon, greets guests in the Village, guides them on snowshoes to the Yurt, and hosts a four-course dinner. The team is expected to be flexible, kind, professional, and hardworking while delivering strong customer service.
Requirements
- Exceptional organization and time-management skills.
- Knowledge of customer service and ability to execute Solitude’s standards.
- Ability and willingness to collaborate.
- Strong verbal communication skills.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Comfort working in a fast-paced environment.
- Willingness to work flexible schedules, including holidays and weekends.
- Ability to obtain and maintain current, valid state-required licenses or certifications, such as a Food Handler’s Certificate and Sips and Tips.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work outdoors in winter weather.
- Ability to pass Solitude’s vehicle driving background check and training.
- Passion for hospitality and knowledge of food and wine.
Responsibilities
- Greet guests in the Village, coordinate snowshoe distribution, and organize guests to depart as a group.
- Guide guests on snowshoes from the Village to the Yurt.
- Know the menu, make recommendations, and answer guests’ questions.
- Set up and stock the restaurant for dinner service.
- Provide tableside wine service and bartend.
- Remove snow if needed after the Grounds Team has cleared the area.
- Check Port-O-Potties for cleanliness and check lanterns.
- Help host the evening with the Chef.
- Run the generator and pellet stove.
- Close and clean the restaurant and prepare it for food service the next day.
- Help haul restaurant items up to the Yurt and back down at the end of the night.
