About The Position

Under general supervision, this role involves training, supervising, and working alongside a crew of Tribal youth engaged in various work assignments and activities for the Tribe. The position requires coordinating services, assisting with recruitment, screening applications, maintaining confidential files, and conducting orientations for new employees. Key responsibilities include educating crews on work ethics, safety procedures, and equipment usage, as well as creating and maintaining task calendars and supervising crew activities. The role also involves transporting the crew, operating and maintaining vehicles, completing paperwork accurately, and managing inventory. Additionally, the supervisor will act as the primary contact for scheduling youth workshops, collaborating with staff and worksite supervisors on management strategies and participant assignments. They will ensure participants are in appropriate work experience settings and supervise instructional staff to meet contracted requirements. Contacting parents/guardians, attending meetings, tracking and approving youth time worked, and conducting participant evaluations are also part of the duties. Employees may be expected to perform a wide range of duties beyond their regular responsibilities due to the Tribe's commitment to community service.

Requirements

  • Graduation from high school or equivalent.
  • 1 year of experience working with tribal youth.
  • Knowledge in safe and proper care and use of tools and equipment.
  • Knowledge in safe work practices and procedures.
  • Knowledge in supervisory techniques and practices.
  • Skill in oral and written communication.
  • Skill in organization and time management.
  • Skill in interpersonal and human relations.
  • Skill in supervising and working with youth in a positive and confident manner.
  • Skill in basic mathematics.
  • Skill in operating hand tools and power equipment.
  • Skill in performing minor equipment maintenance and repairs.
  • Skill in recognizing safety hazards.
  • A valid Washington State driver’s license is required at the time of appointment or at a time set by the Tribe.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates and provides requested services to division staff.
  • Works with recruiter to post and advertise youth jobs, potentially participating in offsite recruiting.
  • Screens and processes applications for employment.
  • Maintains confidential files for all youths participating in the program.
  • Conducts orientation for new employees, educating crews in work ethics and practices.
  • Trains crew and adheres to safety procedures and guidelines for assigned tasks.
  • Trains crew in maintaining, cleaning, and utilizing equipment.
  • Creates and maintains a calendar of required tasks.
  • Supervises and participates in crew activities.
  • Transports self and crew to and from work locations via assigned vehicle; operates and maintains assigned vehicle.
  • Completes paperwork in a neat, accurate, and timely fashion.
  • Requests and processes RQ’s and PO’s to pay vendors.
  • Cooperates with the division.
  • Maintains adequate supplies and materials inventory as needed.
  • Serves as the primary contact for scheduling youth workshops.
  • Works with staff and worksite supervisors to develop classroom and worksite management strategies and to assist in assigning duties, responsibilities, and scope of authority for program participants.
  • Works with the worksite for the supervision of participants at their respective work sites and ensures that participants are in appropriate work experience settings.
  • Supervises the instructional staff and ensures that appropriate instructions and hours meet the contracted minimum requirements.
  • Contacts parents/guardians as needed, regarding confidential matters.
  • Attends bi-weekly meetings with staff and other special meetings as necessary.
  • Tracks and approves (up to 30 youths) time worked on ADP E-Time.
  • Conducts quarterly evaluations for all Youth participants in the Summer and School sessions.
  • Requests building maintenance as needed.
  • Performs a wide range of office and field duties as may be expected.
