About The Position

Tates Rents is seeking a Yard Technician to help create a safe and positive rental experience for customers. The role involves greeting customers, helping them select and use rental equipment, and keeping the equipment and yard clean, organized, and professionally presented. Yard Technicians clean, service, and check fluid levels on equipment, perform minor repairs, demonstrate and load or unload equipment, and fill propane tanks. They also communicate equipment information to counter staff and mechanics, complete monthly online equipment and safety training, and take part in requested safety training. The position requires working outdoors year-round in varying weather conditions and performing physical tasks, with or without reasonable accommodation.

• Ability to push, pull, and lift objects; the described heavy-work demands include exerting up to 100 pounds occasionally, up to 50 pounds frequently, and up to 20 pounds constantly.
• Ability to work in indoor and outdoor environments, with noise that may require shouting to be heard, and exposure to hazards such as moving mechanical parts, electrical current, scaffolding and high places, high heat, or chemicals.
• Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screening in accordance with company policy and applicable law.

Responsibilities

• Prioritize safety for customers and coworkers, remain aware of surrounding situations, and attend safety training when requested.
• Provide a convenient and enjoyable rental experience that exceeds customer expectations.
• Learn about rental equipment and recommend appropriate equipment to customers.
• Complete monthly online training to develop knowledge of equipment and safety.
• Keep the work area and equipment yard clean, organized, and professionally presented.
• Clean and service equipment, check fluid levels, and perform minor repairs.
• Demonstrate, load, and unload equipment.
• Greet customers promptly, resolve customer problems, and fill propane tanks.
• Communicate equipment information efficiently to counter staff and mechanics.
• Perform other duties as requested.
