Yard Hopper - Day Shift
About The Position
Up-North Plastics, a manufacturer of plastic products, is hiring a Yard Hopper at its Cottage Grove, Minnesota location. The position works a 12-hour day shift from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM, on a schedule of three days one week and four days the next. Starting pay is $19.00–$22.00 per hour. Yard Hoppers relocate, dock, and transport trailers within the manufacturing facility; unload trailers; inventory materials; and pick materials. The role supports a fast-paced production environment and requires accurate recordkeeping. Equipment used includes propane-powered sit-down forklifts and a Yard Jockey truck. Additional responsibilities may be assigned by management. Up-North Plastics offers medical and dental coverage, paid vacations and holidays, ESST, and a 401(k). Requirements
- Experience driving commercial trucks or yard mules.
- A current U.S. driver's license; a CDL is not required.
- Ability to handle trailers quickly in tight spaces.
- Ability to operate forklifts.
- Strong computer skills.
- Ability to operate a Yard Jockey truck, inventory control software, and RF scanners.
Responsibilities
- Relocate, dock, and transport trailers within the manufacturing facility.
- Unload materials from trailers.
- Inventory and pick materials.
- Accurately record information while keeping pace with a fast-paced production environment.
- Use propane-powered sit-down forklifts to load and unload trailers and a Yard Jockey to move trailers.
- Perform additional responsibilities as needed or assigned by management.
