Hopper Utility- 1st Shift
About The Position
Utz Quality Foods is hiring a Hopper Utility at its manufacturing facility in Goodyear, Arizona. The role is responsible for unloading and loading pellets into the hopper while supporting food safety, product quality, and production standards. The position works Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, with some Saturdays as needed. The work area may contain allergens. The Hopper Utility works with production team members to meet production needs, monitor product and packaging quality, record production data, and ensure supplies are available. The role also involves following safety and food safety procedures, communicating issues, and supporting team members and continuous process improvement.
Requirements
- Ability to multitask and stay organized in a fast-paced environment.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 70 pounds.
- Strong commitment to personal and food safety policies and procedures.
- Team-oriented attitude and willingness to contribute to company values and goals.
- Must be self-motivated.
- Ability to respond quickly to changes and pay close attention to detail.
- Knowledge of safe operating practices involving lock-out/tag-out programs and food safety.
- Experience with general mechanic tools, such as Allen wrenches and screwdrivers.
- Demonstrated ability to operate production and data entry equipment.
Responsibilities
- Unload and load pellets into the hopper to meet production needs and product specifications.
- Inspect product and packaging quality and notify the machine operator or supervisor of issues.
- Accurately record production data in the system.
- Communicate when production supplies are needed.
- Cover for fellow team members during breaks or absences.
- Follow safety procedures and address safety concerns to support a zero-accident culture.
- Work collaboratively with a diverse team and provide input on process improvements.
- Follow Food Safety programs and report issues to management.
- Perform other tasks as needed to support the team and company goals.
