Gusto is seeking an experienced People Technology Developer to lead the design, configuration, and optimization of Workday solutions supporting HR and payroll processes. The role applies advanced Workday expertise to complex business problems, develops effective approaches and best practices, and operates independently. The developer partners with the People Team, IT, and cross-functional stakeholders to deliver scalable, business-ready outcomes, while mentoring colleagues on Workday functionality. The position is part of the People Operations, Services, and Technology team, which uses AI and automation to optimize workflows, improve service delivery, and create a more responsive and efficient people experience. Gusto expects team members to engage with relevant AI tools and develop their fluency as technology evolves. The role leads Workday configuration and enhancements across modules, reporting and analytics, audit readiness, testing and quality assurance, and system support. It also advises stakeholders on complex Workday matters and mentors team members and key users. Gusto has offices in Denver, San Francisco, and New York City; employees based in those locations are expected to work in-office approximately 2–3 days per week or more depending on the role. Approved work from other locations requires a secure, reliable, consistent internet connection. The position is also described as potentially fully remote, hybrid, or office-based depending on location and approval.
