Workday System Analyst

Hays Electrical Services•Houston, TX

About The Position

Hays Electrical Services is seeking a Workday System Analyst to support implementation and ongoing optimization of its Workday HCM platform. The analyst identifies process gaps, resolves routine system issues, builds and refines reports, supports release testing, and helps HR, Payroll, and business stakeholders get more value from Workday. The role works closely with a senior administrator across the platform’s full system lifecycle. The position supports configuration under direction, data conversion, testing, payroll and benefits validation, cutover and go-live readiness, training, and post-launch hypercare. Ongoing duties include process and reporting improvements, data quality audits, release and enhancement testing, Tier 1/2 support, documentation, and support for data governance and security practices.

  • Familiarity with Workday business process configuration, including approval chains and condition rules, sufficient to assist under guidance and identify and describe issues.
  • Comfort developing and executing unit, SIT, and UAT test scripts and documenting defects clearly.

Nice To Haves

  • Identify opportunities to streamline business processes, reduce manual workarounds, and improve data accuracy with the System Administrator and stakeholders.
  • Analyze business process configurations, including approval chains, condition rules, and notifications, and recommend refinements to reduce cycle time and errors.
  • Document current-state processes and pain points, and translate stakeholder requests into actionable configuration or reporting requirements.
  • Assist in evaluating new Workday functionality and modules for potential adoption, including basic cost/benefit and impact analysis.
  • Maintain an enhancement-request backlog, prioritize requests with the System Administrator, and track them through resolution.
  • Build, maintain, and troubleshoot Advanced, Matrix, and Composite custom reports and calculated fields for HR, Payroll, and business reporting.
  • Monitor scheduled reports and integrations for errors or anomalies and perform first-level troubleshooting before escalating.
  • Conduct regular data quality audits and recommend corrective action.
  • Support HR metrics and analytics, including turnover, headcount, compensation, and compliance reporting.
  • Support semi-annual Workday release testing by reviewing relevant release notes, building test scripts, executing regression testing, and documenting results.

  • Assist with UAT coordination for enhancement projects, including scheduling, tracking participation, and consolidating feedback.
  • Serve as a first point of contact for Tier 1/2 Workday support tickets from HR, managers, and employees; resolve routine issues and escalate complex configuration issues.
  • Maintain and update end-user job aids, FAQs, and training materials as processes change; deliver informal training or refresher sessions to HR staff and managers.
  • Track recurring ticket themes to identify systemic issues or additional training needs.
  • Maintain documentation of business process configuration, report inventories, and enhancement history.
