About The Position

Deriva Energy is seeking a Wind Technician to be based at their Los Vientos III, IV, V Wind location. This is a full-time, permanent position with significant room for advancement, serving as the entry-level and initial training level for the series. The hiring manager may elect to fill this position at the higher Wind Technician II level depending on a candidate's skills and experience. The role involves maintaining all aspects of turbines, including electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems.

Requirements

• High School/GED
• Ability to complete Level I job performance measures and training Deriva Energy renewables academy within 1 year (for Wind Technician I)
• 3+ years of related work experience (for external Wind Technician II candidates)
• Must pass required Turbine Technician I and Electrical Operator I JPMs within the probationary period (for external Wind Technician II candidates)
• 1+ year of technical experience with Deriva Energy as a Wind Technician (for internal Wind Technician II candidates)
• Must also have Turbine Technician-1 and Electrical Operator1 JPM Completed (for internal Wind Technician II candidates)
• Valid Driver’s License required
• Must pass a background check and drug test prior to hire
• Applicants must be authorized to work for ANY employer in the U.S.

Nice To Haves

• AAS degree or certification in Wind/Renewable Energy or applicable field of study
• Experience with Vestas V82 and V90 turbines
• Experience with multiple wind turbine supplier technologies
• High voltage and substation maintenance experience
• Familiarity with mechanical and electronic testing equipment (i.e., voltage testers, amp clamps, oscilloscopes, and various hand and power tools)
• Knowledge of heavy equipment for facility maintenance and working knowledge of crane and rigging requirements
• Competent with Maximo EZ Max mobile work and My Time management systems
• Microsoft Office Including Excel/Word/PowerPoint
• CPR and AED Training Certification
• TSL tower climber and rescue & EEM training
• Forklift certified

Responsibilities

• Always maintain a high level of safety awareness
• Climb heights 300 ft. and greater several times daily
• Diagnose and resolve faults on turbines as they relate to mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic problems
• Perform troubleshooting to identify the root cause of an issue and perform corrective actions or open a service case with equipment manufacturer
• Perform energy isolation in accordance with all Lock Out / Tag Out Procedures
• Perform pad mounted Transformer switching in accordance with all Hazardous Energy Controls Procedures
• Perform small or large corrective tasks on wind turbines
• Perform preventative maintenance, corrective maintenance, performance monitoring and evaluation
• Maintaining all aspects (e.g., electrical, mechanical, civil, etc.) of turbines in a safe, high quality, and efficient manner
• Maintain EH&S Documentation and complete necessary paperwork (work order, timesheet, tool and PPE inventory, and additional paperwork as necessary) within Maximo
