About The Position
Deriva Energy, a nationwide leader in sustainable energy, is seeking a Wind Technician to be based at their Los Vientos III, IV, V Wind location. This is a full-time, permanent position with significant room for advancement, serving as both the entry-level and initial training level for the series. The hiring manager may elect to fill this position at the higher Wind Technician II level depending on a candidate's skills and experience. The role involves maintaining all aspects of our turbines, including electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems.
Requirements
- High School/GED
- Ability to complete Level I job performance measures and training at Deriva Energy renewables academy within 1 year (for Wind Technician I)
- For External Candidates (Wind Technician II): In addition to the High School/GED requirement, (3+) years of related work experience.
- Must pass required Turbine Technician I and Electrical Operator I JPMs within the probationary period (for Wind Technician II)
- For Internal Candidates (Wind Technician II): In addition to the High School/GED requirement, (1+) year of technical experience with Deriva Energy as a Wind Technician.
- Must also have Turbine Technician-1 and Electrical Operator1 JPM Completed (for Wind Technician II)
- Valid Driver’s License required
- Must pass a background check and drug test prior to hire
- Safe Working Weight Requirement- This position contains a weight restriction of 265 pounds as an essential function of the job.
Nice To Haves
- AAS degree or certification in Wind/Renewable Energy or applicable field of study
- Experience with Vestas V82 and V90 turbines
- Experience with multiple wind turbine supplier technologies
- High voltage and substation maintenance experience
- Familiarity with mechanical and electronic testing equipment (i.e., voltage testers, amp clamps, oscilloscopes, and various hand and power tools)
- Knowledge of heavy equipment for facility maintenance and working knowledge of crane and rigging requirements
- Competent with Maximo EZ Max mobile work and My Time management systems
- Microsoft Office Including Excel/Word/PowerPoint
- CPR and AED Training Certification
- TSL tower climber and rescue & EEM training
- Forklift certified
Responsibilities
- Always maintain a high level of safety awareness
- Climb heights 300 ft. and greater several times daily
- Diagnose and resolve faults on turbines as they relate to mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic problems
- Perform troubleshooting to identify the root cause of an issue and perform corrective actions or open a service case with equipment manufacturer
- Perform energy isolation in accordance with all Lock Out / Tag Out Procedures
- Perform pad mounted Transformer switching in accordance with all Hazardous Energy Controls Procedures
- Perform small or large corrective tasks on wind turbines
- Perform preventative maintenance, corrective maintenance, performance monitoring and evaluation
- Maintaining all aspects (e.g., electrical, mechanical, civil, etc.) of turbines in a safe, high quality, and efficient manner
- Maintain EH&S Documentation and complete necessary paperwork (work order, timesheet, tool and PPE inventory, and additional paperwork as necessary) within Maximo
