About The Position

The Parkview Family YMCA is seeking an enthusiastic and attentive part-time Wellness Center Assistant to help create a welcoming atmosphere for new and current members. The role supports members in pursuing their wellness goals, promotes safe use of YMCA facilities and fitness equipment, and contributes to a positive environment for participants. The position requires strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to respond to emergency situations.

The position is based at the Parkview Family YMCA in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Available weekday schedules are Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m.–1:15 p.m. or 1:00 p.m.–5:15 p.m.; weekend availability is also noted. Pay is $11.85–$12.35 per hour.

Requirements

• Must be at least 15 years old.
• Must have at least a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Must have reliable transportation to and from work.
• Must be committed to contributing to the YMCA of Greater Fort Wayne’s mission, culture, and values.
• Strong human relations skills and the ability to communicate with participants and program staff.
• Ability to relate to, welcome, and communicate with diverse groups of people regardless of age, race, economic status, religion, or cultural differences.

Nice To Haves

• Experience and/or certification from a national organization is preferred.
• Previous fitness experience and basic knowledge of anatomy and physiology are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Connect with members and support their wellness goals.
• Help ensure the safety of members using YMCA facilities and respond to emergency situations.
• Orient members to fitness equipment to promote safe and positive participation.
• Communicate with participants and program staff and contribute to a welcoming atmosphere.
