About The Position

The Jackson R. Lehman Family YMCA is seeking an enthusiastic and attentive part-time Wellness Center Assistant to create a welcoming atmosphere and leave a memorable impression on new and current members. The role involves connecting with members about their wellness goals, supporting facility safety and responding to emergencies, and orienting members to fitness equipment so they can pursue their goals safely and positively. The position is based at the Jackson R. Lehman Family YMCA in Fort Wayne, Indiana, with evening and weekend hours available.

Requirements

• Must be at least 16 years old.
• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Must have reliable transportation to and from work.
• Must be committed to contributing to the mission, culture, and values of the YMCA of Greater Fort Wayne.
• Must be able to relate to, welcome, and communicate with diverse groups of people regardless of age, race, economic status, religion, or cultural differences.

Nice To Haves

• Experience and/or certification from a national organization is preferred.
• Previous fitness certification and experience with basic knowledge of anatomy and physiology, along with wellness equipment, is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Communicate and build positive relationships with participants and program staff.
• Connect with members about their wellness goals and provide service that supports them.
• Help ensure the safety of members using the facilities and respond to emergencies.
• Orient members to fitness equipment to promote safe use and a positive environment.
