Wellness Assistant - Parkview Family YMCA
About The Position
The Parkview Family YMCA is seeking an enthusiastic and attentive Wellness Center Assistant to create a welcoming atmosphere and make a memorable impression on new and current members. The role supports members in pursuing their wellness goals, promotes safety in the facilities, and helps participants use fitness equipment safely. The position is part-time and based at the Parkview Family YMCA in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Available schedules include weekday shifts from 1:00 p.m. to 5:15 p.m. or 9:00 a.m. to 1:15 p.m., as well as weekend availability. Pay is $11.85–$12.35 per hour.
Requirements
- Must be at least 15 years old and have a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Must have reliable transportation to and from work.
- Must be committed to contributing to the mission, culture, and values of the YMCA of Greater Fort Wayne.
- Strong human relations skills and ability to communicate with participants and program staff.
- Ability to relate to, welcome, and communicate with diverse groups of people regardless of age, race, economic status, religion, or cultural differences.
Nice To Haves
- Experience and/or certification from a national organization.
- Previous fitness experience and basic knowledge of anatomy and physiology.
Responsibilities
- Communicate effectively with participants and program staff using strong human relations skills.
- Connect with members and support their wellness goals.
- Ensure the safety of members using the facilities and respond to emergency situations.
- Orient members to fitness equipment to promote safe use and a positive environment.
