About The Position

The Jackson R. Lehman Family YMCA is seeking an enthusiastic and attentive part-time Wellness Center Assistant to create a welcoming atmosphere and leave a memorable impression on new and current members. The role supports members in pursuing their wellness goals, helps ensure facility safety, and introduces members to fitness equipment so they can exercise in a safe and positive environment. The position is based at the Jackson R. Lehman Family YMCA in Fort Wayne, Indiana, with evening and weekend hours available.

Requirements

• Must be at least 16 years old.
• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Must have reliable transportation to and from work.
• Must be committed to contributing to the mission, culture, and values of the YMCA of Greater Fort Wayne.
• Ability to relate to, welcome, and communicate with diverse groups of people regardless of age, race, economic status, religion, or cultural differences.

Nice To Haves

• Experience and/or certification from a national organization.
• Previous fitness certification and experience with basic knowledge of anatomy and physiology and wellness equipment.

Responsibilities

• Communicate with participants and program staff using strong human relations skills.
• Connect with members and support their wellness goals.
• Ensure the safety of members using the facilities and respond to emergencies.
• Orient members to fitness equipment and help create a safe, positive environment for pursuing wellness goals.
