About The Position

The Jackson R. Lehman Family YMCA is seeking an enthusiastic, attentive part-time Cooking Instructor. Under the supervision of the Program Director, the instructor leads cooking classes, creates meals and food lists, manages class participants, and teaches cooking techniques. The instructor develops a curriculum based on their skills and has creative control over class themes, recipes, and scheduling. The role also helps participants learn and grow through shared cooking knowledge and fosters community connections.

The position is based at the Jackson R. Lehman Family YMCA in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Hours are Thursdays, morning or afternoon, with flexibility, and potentially weekends. The listed hourly pay is $12.44–$14.50.

Requirements

• Minimum age of 18.
• Reliable transportation to attend work.
• Ability to fulfill the demands and skills of a cooking instructor in spirit, mind, and body in accordance with YMCA standards.
• Positive, service-oriented attitude when serving people across diverse ages, abilities, ethnicities, genders, races, economic statuses, and religions.
• Willingness to contribute as a team player to the YMCA's culture, mission, and values.

Nice To Haves

• Previous cooking experience with certifications is preferred.
