About The Position

The Warehouse Worker supports the Navy Exchange vending team and the local Naval community by performing warehouse tasks involving the receipt, storage, and inventory of merchandise. The role is based at the Navy Exchange in Lemoore, California, and contributes to service for military patrons and their families. Duties include unloading vehicles; checking incoming shipments for spoilage, damage, or shortages; verifying vendor invoices against received goods; and pulling merchandise for shipments, transfers, or customer orders according to established procedures. The worker verifies merchandise and label information against relevant documents and may use a push cart, ladders, sharp instruments, and, if licensed, forklift equipment. Work takes place indoors and outdoors, including storage areas, bin aisles, ramps, and platforms. Conditions may be cold, drafty, damp, or hot. The role involves prolonged standing and walking, bending and stooping, climbing ladders, and lifting or carrying merchandise, with assistance for heavier items. HazMat training is required within 90 days of hire, and a forklift license may be required.

Requirements

Twelve months of experience performing warehousing-related duties, such as receiving, storing, issuing, or shipping, or similar work that provides the required knowledge and skills.
Able to walk, stoop, bend, and stand for long periods on hard surfaces.
Able to lift and carry boxes weighing up to 50 pounds and, with assistance, sometimes more than 50 pounds; the physical requirements section also states lifting up to 100 pounds with assistance.
Able to climb ladders and use a sharp instrument to open boxes.
Must pass applicable background checks for the area of responsibility, which may include a Federal DOD Security Clearance.
Must receive HazMat training within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

Unload vehicles and check incoming shipments for spoilage, damage, or shortages.
Receive vendor invoices and compare them with reports of goods received to verify items and quantities.
Pull merchandise for shipment, transfers, or customer orders according to established procedures and directions from the system or supervisor.
Verify information on documents against the merchandise or its labels.
Receive, store, and inventory merchandise in the vending warehouse backroom.
Use a push cart to transport merchandise and climb ladders to pull stock and stock shelves and bins.
Complete Hazardous Material training within 90 days of hire.
