About The Position

The Cashier serves customers at the Navy Exchange in Silverdale, Washington, supporting service members and their families. The role provides customer service by identifying customer needs, directing customers to merchandise, and informing them about events, promotions, mobile offers, and STAR card promotions. The Cashier also maintains store appearance and processes transactions using a point-of-sale system, including cash, discounts, gift cards, credit cards, and debit cards. Accurate cash handling and returning correct change are required. Military affiliation is not necessary, but applicants must have military base access or be U.S. citizens.

Requirements

• Must possess the knowledge and skills necessary to perform the job duties.
• Must pass a pre-employment criminal background check.
• Must have military base access or be a U.S. citizen.

Nice To Haves

• Previous retail experience is preferred but not required.
• High school graduation or equivalent is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Engage with and listen to customers, asking questions to determine their needs.
• Direct customers to merchandise and inform them about upcoming events, promotions, mobile offers, and STAR card promotions.
• Provide premier customer service.
• Maintain store appearance.
• Use a point-of-sale system to process cash exchanges, discounts, gift cards, credit cards, and debit cards.
• Handle cash, count money, and return accurate amounts to customers.
