About The Position

Hajoca Corporation is a large, privately-held wholesale distributor of plumbing, heating & cooling, and industrial supplies. The McDonald trade name is looking for a Warehouse Teammate / Local Delivery Driver at their Dubuque, IA location. This role involves operating trucks safely, loading and unloading merchandise, understanding shipping documents, resolving discrepancies, collecting payments for cash sales, and providing sales leads. The position also includes receiving duties such as verifying shipments, noting discrepancies, and handling nonstock/special-order/damaged material. Picking and shipping duties involve picking orders, ensuring accuracy, loading/unloading trucks, operating warehouse equipment, maintaining warehouse cleanliness, and adhering to safety standards.

Requirements

  • Be at least 21 years old
  • Possess a proper and valid driver’s license
  • Have a driving record that meets the criteria for being an Authorized Driver in accordance with Company policy.
  • Be able to pass a Department of Transportation physical examination before beginning work and again at least every two years while employed and performing this job function.
  • 1 year warehouse receiving and material handling experience
  • Know the laws, rules and regulations governing driving motor vehicles in general, and commercial motor vehicles subject to Department of Transportation regulations in particular.
  • Know of, be able to apply, and practice safety precautions in a warehouse and material handling environment.
  • Be able to build and maintain a positive working relationship with customers, vendors and co-workers.
  • Be able to remain calm and function effectively in stressful, unexpected, and/or emergency situations.
  • Be able to learn to operate warehouse material-handling equipment.
  • Be able to learn and operate the computer related systems used in the delivery process.
  • Read, write, speak and understand English.
  • Be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Outstanding customer service and communication skills.
  • Able to quickly develop comprehensive knowledge of products sold at the Profit Center.
  • Able to learn to safely operate a forklift and other material handling equipment in use at the Profit Center.
  • Able to learn and operate the computer related systems used for warehouse operations.

Responsibilities

  • Operate trucks safely and in compliance with Company rules, applicable laws, and regulations.
  • Load the truck at the Profit Center with Hajoca merchandise to be delivered, securing the load properly.
  • Understand shipping documents and have accurate directions to each delivery destination.
  • Review shipping documentation and ensure order accuracy.
  • Unload correct merchandise from the truck and place it where the receiving party wants it, obtaining a signature.
  • Collect and secure outstanding payments for all cash sale deliveries.
  • Work with customers at the delivery site to resolve shipping discrepancies quickly and accurately.
  • Load the truck at other locations with merchandise.
  • Provide sales leads by noting prospective customer names and addresses.
  • Inspect the truck and required parts and accessories to determine safe operating condition.
  • Keep truck clean of debris in cab and body.
  • Advise management of any mechanical problems with the truck.
  • Complete the Driver’s Daily Vehicle Inspection Report when driving a delivery vehicle with a gross vehicle weight (GVWR) of 10,001 lbs. or more if a defect or deficiency is found.
  • Remove keys from the truck and store keys in the approved location at the end of the workday.
  • Successfully complete required safety and compliance training programs.
  • Perform other reasonably related duties as assigned.
  • Upon receipt of a vendor shipment or customer return, obtain the packing slip and count and verify material received.
  • Note received quantities and all shipping discrepancies on the packing slip.
  • Print and verify the PO Receiver and receive material in the system or forward receiving documents to office personnel.
  • If using RF, receive via the device and note shipping discrepancies on the packing list.
  • If receiving using an Advanced Shipment Notification (ASN), always receive material and quantities indicated on the ASN and follow the appropriate process for handling ASN discrepancies.
  • Handle all shipping discrepancies per procedures or forward appropriate paperwork to designated employee.
  • Identify nonstock, special-order material, and damaged material and store in proper warehouse locations.
  • Note all shipping discrepancies on freight carrier’s Bill of Lading; initiate freight claims or forward appropriate paperwork.
  • Pick material for orders, note quantities picked on the pick ticket, assemble and package the materials for shipment/pick up.
  • If using RF, pick via the device; a pick ticket is not utilized unless the Profit Center has certain products set to “pick from paper.”
  • Check picked material against printed ticket to ensure accuracy.
  • If using RF, audit the order using the device to ensure accuracy.
  • Forward the pick ticket to the appropriate personnel for either Will Call or for creating the Shipping Manifests.
  • Complete necessary documentation for customer shipments delivered via third party carrier.
  • Load and unload trucks, operate warehouse forklift and other material handling equipment safely.
  • Inform immediate supervisor of stock depletions, count discrepancies, or damaged/defective/nonsaleable merchandise.
  • Ensure security and controls are in place and upheld to protect Profit Center assets.
  • Maintain warehouse cleanliness, order, and safety.
  • Remove empty cartons, metal bands, pallets, and other debris.
  • Inform immediate supervisor of safety issues.
  • Assist co-workers in servicing customers.
  • Perform all job functions in accordance with the company’s Safety Standards.
  • Successfully complete required safety and compliance training programs as assigned.
  • Perform other reasonably related duties as assigned by immediate supervisor and other management as required.
