About The Position

Hajoca Corporation is a large, privately-held wholesale distributor of plumbing, heating & cooling, and industrial supplies. Founded in 1858, Hajoca operates on principles of "Service, Integrity, Reliability." The company functions in a decentralized environment where each location, called a Profit Center (PC), is managed as a small business. Crawford Supply, a trade name of Hajoca, is seeking a Warehouse Teammate/Delivery Driver for its Mokena, IL location. The role involves providing excellent customer service, maintaining warehouse order and safety, and accurately fulfilling customer orders. The position also includes delivery driving responsibilities, ensuring safe operation of trucks and accurate delivery of merchandise. The pay for this position is between $15 and $18 per hour.

Requirements

  • 1 year warehouse receiving and material handling experience
  • Ability to drive a vehicle over 10,000 lbs.
  • At least 21 years old (as a non-CDL driver)
  • Possess a proper and valid driver’s license
  • Driving record that meets the criteria for being an Authorized Driver
  • Ability to pass a Department of Transportation physical examination before beginning work and at least every two years while employed
  • Read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Responsibilities

  • Counting, verifying, and receiving incoming vendor shipments and customer return material.
  • Stocking and maintaining the warehouse; picking, documenting, and packing customer orders.
  • Handling shipping discrepancies or forwarding appropriate paperwork.
  • Identifying nonstock, special-order material, and damaged material and storing them in proper warehouse locations.
  • Completing necessary documentation for customer shipments delivered via third-party carrier.
  • Loading and unloading trucks, operating warehouse forklift and other material handling equipment safely.
  • Informing immediate supervisor of stock depletions, count discrepancies, or damaged/defective/nonsaleable merchandise.
  • Ensuring security and controls are in place to protect Profit Center assets.
  • Maintaining warehouse cleanliness, order, and safety, including removing debris and reporting safety issues.
  • Assisting co-workers in servicing customers.
  • Performing all job functions in accordance with the company’s Safety Standards.
  • Successfully completing required safety and compliance training programs.
  • Operating trucks safely and in compliance with Company rules, applicable laws, and regulations.
  • Loading the truck with merchandise to be delivered, ensuring the load is secured properly.
  • Ensuring necessary equipment to safely unload merchandise is available.
  • Understanding shipping documents and having accurate directions to delivery destinations.
  • Reviewing shipping documentation and ensuring order accuracy.
  • Unloading correct merchandise from the truck and placing it where the receiving party wants it.
  • Obtaining legible signatures for all merchandise delivered.
  • Collecting and securing outstanding payments for all cash sale deliveries.
  • Working with customers at the delivery site to resolve shipping discrepancies.
  • Loading the truck at other locations with merchandise (e.g., from vendors, customer returns, other wholesalers).
  • Providing sales leads by noting prospective customer names and addresses.
  • Inspecting the truck and required parts and accessories prior to departure.
  • Keeping the truck clean.
  • Advising management of any mechanical problems with the truck.
  • Completing the Driver’s Daily Vehicle Inspection Report when driving a vehicle over 10,001 lbs. GVWR if a defect or deficiency is found.
  • Removing keys from the truck at the end of the workday and storing them in the approved location.
