Warehouse forklift operators skillfully maneuver industrial powered equipment to help Publix distribution maintain a smooth, safe, and orderly process when moving products within its warehouses. They move cases and pallets to assigned warehouse slots and transfer products from receiving docks to reserve locations. As pick locations are emptied, they replenish them from reserve locations, rotating inventory so the most dated products are used first. They also help maintain a clean warehouse by sweeping out empty slots. Depending on business needs, they may occasionally fill in for warehouse selectors and other positions. The listed responsibilities are not all-inclusive, and additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed. The work environment depends on the warehouse department. Boxed meat/dairy warehouse temperatures may range from 28° to 35° Fahrenheit for extended periods. Frozen food warehouse temperatures may range from 20° below zero to zero for extended periods. Produce warehouse temperatures may range from 35° to 55° Fahrenheit and involve working in a wet environment.
