About The Position

Wall to Wall Wine and Spirits Cashiers provide customer service at the point of purchase in Hy-Vee’s wine and spirits department. They educate customers about wine, spirits, and beer products, operate the cash register, and help keep merchandise stocked and the department and store displays presentable. The role includes following alcohol-sale policies, supporting inventory and product orders when requested, and maintaining a clean, sanitary work area. Cashiers work as part of a team in a fast-paced retail environment and may assist elsewhere in the store or take on special projects as assigned. The position requires frequent standing and walking throughout the shift, along with repetitive reaching and bending. The work environment may include occasional exposure to dirt, cleaning solvents, moving equipment, temperature extremes, and dampness. Safety training is provided. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen.

Requirements

Must be at least 21 years of age.
Follow detailed written or verbal instructions and work through tasks with a few concrete variables.
Perform simple addition and subtraction, copy figures, and count and record accurately.
Understand and follow verbal or demonstrated directions and communicate supply needs orally or in writing.
Work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Frequently stand and walk throughout a shift.
Perform repetitive standing, walking, reaching, and bending associated with order fulfillment, point-of-sale transactions, and cleaning and sanitation duties.

Responsibilities

Provide prompt, friendly customer service, greet customers, and make each interaction positive.
Educate customers about wine, spirits, and beer products and help them find appropriate selections.
Operate the cash register accurately and process customer transactions.
Rotate, face, and replenish merchandise while maintaining product quality standards.
Maintain existing displays in the department and throughout the store, and build new displays as needed.
Check in and put away products and review invoices as needed.
Understand and follow local, state, and company policies on alcohol sales.
Assist with inventory and order products at the supervisor’s request.
Remove trash promptly and maintain a clean, sanitary work area.
Answer the telephone promptly and provide helpful customer service.
Work with coworkers as a team to support customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment.
Assist in other store areas and take on special projects as assigned.
Follow personal hygiene and dress standards, Hy-Vee policies, and store guidelines.
Report to work as scheduled and on time.
