About The Position

Skyrocket™ serves schools with diverse and low-socioeconomic student populations and non-traditional learning environments, bringing expertise at the intersection of academic and administrative performance. The VP of Sales and Marketing will lead sales and marketing across the company’s legacy service catalogs. The position is primarily remote, with more than 20 in-person days in Pasadena, California, for company events and professional development, as well as travel to client meetings, prospect sites, and conferences when required. The VP will develop and execute go-to-market plans, manage and coach the Account Executive team, oversee the end-to-end sales process, and use CRM and analytics to guide sales capacity, territories, and performance. The role will also direct day-to-day marketing execution, including campaigns, content, sales enablement, website, and PR-adjacent priorities. In partnership with the COO, the VP will build and scale the sales and marketing organization, establish operating and reporting processes, and oversee hiring, onboarding, and performance. The position owns sales pipeline and forecasting and tracks marketing metrics, reporting regularly to the COO.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; equivalent progressive experience is considered.
  • 5–8+ years of sales leadership experience.
  • Direct people-management experience leading a multi-person sales team.
  • Marketing fluency and ability to direct campaigns and content, even without being the hands-on creator.
  • Ability to operate with a COO/executive layer above and translate strategy into execution rather than setting strategy independently.
  • Some evening and weekend availability around major proposal deadlines.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience selling into complex, long-cycle institutional buyers, such as K-12, higher education, HR/back-office services, or government.
  • Track record managing a team through integration or organizational change without losing pipeline momentum.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and coach the two Account Executives against consolidated pipeline, activity, and revenue targets, reporting attainment to the COO monthly and quarterly.
  • Own the sales process from prospecting through close, renewal, and expansion.
  • Use CRM and sales analytics to optimize territory design, capacity, and conversion rates as the team grows.
  • Execute cross-sell and bundled-pricing motions for engagements spanning multiple service lines.
  • Maintain team coverage and continuity through staffing transitions using documented coverage plans.
  • Recalibrate quotas, activity targets, and compensation and incentive structures as performance data accumulates.
  • Run day-to-day marketing execution, including campaigns, content, and sales-enablement collateral.
  • Partner with the COO on website and PR-adjacent priorities.
  • Build the sales and marketing team for growth and recommend and hire additional Sales Directors, Account Executives, and marketing roles in partnership with the COO on timing and budget.
  • Recruit, retain, and develop sales and marketing talent, fostering accountability and continuous coaching.
  • Implement sales operations, revenue operations, and reporting governance as the team scales.
  • Own new hires’ ramp and performance against plan, applying the existing 30-60-90 day ramp process.
  • Support consolidation of CRM and pipeline-reporting infrastructure across both companies in partnership with Operations.
  • Own the sales pipeline and forecast and report progress against Year One and quarterly targets to the COO.
  • Track and report core marketing metrics, including qualified leads, campaign performance, and site engagement.
  • Travel to client and prospect sites and industry conferences as required.
