VP of Marketing

Rockstar
•$175,000 - $200,000

About The Position

Rockstar is recruiting for a mission-driven, fast-growing marketplace platform that connects members seeking affordable housing with hosts offering rooms. The company aims to scale from $50M to $500M+ in ARR while helping address the affordable housing crisis by providing quality, affordable rooms to rent. The VP of Marketing will lead and scale the company's full-funnel marketing engine, with a primary focus on member acquisition, activation, and engagement while supporting host growth and marketplace balance. The role translates growth targets into measurable marketing results, diversifies acquisition channels, and builds a scalable engine. The successful candidate will combine strategic direction and team leadership with hands-on work in campaigns, dashboards, and channel performance. The role owns marketing strategy across awareness, consideration, engagement, and conversion; paid acquisition; organic, SEO, content, social, referral, and brand programs; and lifecycle marketing through email, SMS, push, and in-app channels. It also oversees growth experimentation, performance analytics, and a multidisciplinary marketing team, working cross-functionally with Product, Operations, Sales, Supply, and Member/Host Success. The hiring process may include an application review, a PeopleOps phone call, interviews with the Chief Growth Officer and leadership panel, a market-launch skills assessment, and a final interview with the CEO. The advertised base salary range is $175,000–$200,000 per year, with potential for a performance-based bonus of up to $100,000.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of consumer or marketplace marketing experience, including 5+ years in a senior leadership role owning a multi-channel marketing function and its results.
  • Demonstrated experience scaling paid acquisition across diversified channels, including search, local bidding, paid social, display, video, and affiliate, with direct ownership of a multi-million-dollar budget and CAC and payback targets.
  • Experience marketing a two-sided marketplace, consumer subscription, or transaction-based business where demand and supply must grow together.
  • Track record of helping a company navigate a significant growth phase and explaining how its marketing engine, channel mix, and operating model evolved as it scaled.
  • Strong fluency in attribution, incrementality testing, marginal CAC, LTV, payback, forecasting, and channel-level business cases; ability to make evidence-based decisions and identify assumptions and risks.
  • Experience directly working in marketing campaigns, ad platforms, creative testing, landing-page optimization, analytics, and reporting.
  • Experience leading and developing multidisciplinary marketing teams spanning paid, organic/content, social, lifecycle, and brand, including hiring and developing leaders as the organization grows.
  • Builder-operator mentality, strong cross-functional collaboration skills, comfort with AI tools and marketing technology, and commitment to the company's mission of helping people find a comfortable place to call home.
