About The Position

Lonestar is a rapidly growing electrical distributor seeking a VP of Digital Strategy to lead its digital transformation. This role is crucial for driving growth through digital initiatives across customer ordering, tracking, pricing, stocking, and data-driven decision-making. It's a hands-on leadership position focused on translating strategy into actionable plans, with accountability for outcomes, adoption, and measurable business impact. The VP will act as the bridge between business needs and technology, identifying and delivering digital initiatives that provide value through automation, enhanced decision-making, improved customer tools, and operational efficiency.

Requirements

  • 8+ years leading digital, systems, or transformation teams in B2B environments.
  • Experience in electrical, industrial, or wholesale distribution strongly preferred.
  • Track record of delivering quantified business outcomes from digital initiatives.
  • Proven ability to translate business needs into technical solutions and communicate value.
  • Strong understanding of ERP, CRM, eCommerce, data, and systems integration.
  • Working proficiency with modern data platforms (e.g., Snowflake, Databricks, Microsoft Fabric).
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Azure and cloud-native architecture.
  • Advanced understanding of AI/ML capabilities, limitations, use cases, and governance frameworks.
  • Hands-on experience redesigning business processes and leading change management.
  • Comfortable working with executives and frontline teams.
  • Demonstrated success leading teams through execution, not just planning.

Nice To Haves

  • ERP experience with Epicor Eclipse preferred.
  • Familiarity with containerization/orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes) a plus.
  • Experience integrating acquisitions (systems, data, and digital channels) strongly preferred.
  • Track record of building data and analytics capability from the ground up.

Responsibilities

  • Set and own the digital strategy, roadmap, and execution plan.
  • Build and own a prioritized pipeline of digital use cases with business cases and value tracking.
  • Partner with Sales, Operations, Supply Chain, and Finance to modernize workflows and design future-state processes.
  • Drive strategy through execution with clear milestones, ownership, and accountability.
  • Ensure digital initiatives support growth, acquisitions, and operational scale.
  • Establish and champion the data and analytics foundation for data-driven decision-making.
  • Deliver reporting and analytics, including executive KPIs, operating dashboards, and self-service analytics.
  • Develop and maintain the AI strategy and transformation roadmap.
  • Establish an AI governance framework, including responsible AI principles, policy, and risk management.
  • Set security, privacy, compliance, and ethical standards for AI systems.
  • Evaluate and recommend third-party AI platforms and tools.
  • Own the rollout of customer-facing digital tools (e.g., order tracking, eCommerce, punchout/EDI).
  • Own the rollout of commercial enablement tools (e.g., pricing analytics, AI-assisted order entry).
  • Partner with Operations to roll out operational efficiency tools (e.g., demand forecasting, inventory optimization).
  • Translate business priorities into scalable technical solutions.
  • Determine the right implementation path (build, buy, or partner) for initiatives.
  • Run the vendor selection process.
  • Oversee implementation and optimization of digital tools, partnering with IT and Operations.
  • Manage vendors and hold internal teams accountable for delivery.
  • Lead change management, communication, and adoption across all teams.
  • Lead and develop digital, systems, and cross-functional project teams.
