About The Position

The VP/Director of Software Engineering owns the end-to-end technology strategy for OneMain Financial’s document management services across upload, archival and retrieval; dynamic document generation; intelligent document processing (IDP); and e-signature and authoritative-copy vaulting. The role defines target architecture, platform boundaries and an executable roadmap for the document lifecycle, and leads modernization and migration work, including scaling Box and retiring legacy systems and dependencies such as Mobius, ELF and CLASS forms technology. The position is accountable for reliable document intake and retrieval, reusable and governed document-generation capabilities, enterprise-scale IDP, and the integration of DocuSign and eOriginal into origination and servicing journeys. It ensures platform reliability, recoverability, security, data integrity, legal custody and auditability, while improving image quality, reducing manual work and delivering measurable customer and business outcomes. The role establishes AI-enabled engineering practices across the product development lifecycle, with appropriate human accountability and security controls. It also owns vendor strategy and economics, engineering budgets and operational performance; partners with business, product, operations, risk and compliance stakeholders; and develops engineering leaders and teams while fostering a collaborative, innovative engineering culture.

Requirements

  • Significant software engineering leadership experience building and operating high-volume enterprise platforms or shared services.
  • Experience owning the technology strategy, architecture, delivery and operational performance of large-scale, business-critical enterprise platforms.
  • Deep understanding of document platforms, content lifecycle, enterprise forms, records governance or comparable high-volume, regulated information systems.
  • Deep understanding of distributed architectures, APIs, event-driven and asynchronous processing, data integrity, resilience and failure recovery.
  • Experience integrating cloud/SaaS document systems with legacy platforms, customer-facing journeys and third-party processing and digital-signature vendors.
  • Proven ability to sequence large migrations and technology retirements without disrupting origination or servicing operations.
  • Strong track record leading enterprise modernization, including legacy platform retirement, cloud adoption, vendor consolidation and engineering transformation.
  • Experience driving AI-enabled engineering practices across the product development lifecycle, with measurable improvements in productivity, quality and time to market.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead managers and senior technical leaders, build high-performing engineering organizations, and drive talent development, succession planning and organizational effectiveness.
  • Strong executive presence and communication, stakeholder management and cross-functional influence, including the ability to influence technology strategy and navigate complex dependencies.
  • Sound judgment on architecture, platform reuse, AI-enabled workflow automation, vendor selection, cost efficiency and control design.
  • Ability to connect architecture and engineering execution to operational efficiency, customer experience and measurable business outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ownership of engineering budgets, vendor relationships, operational resilience, regulatory compliance and delivery commitments.

Nice To Haves

  • Deep experience with enterprise content management, document management, financial services or other highly regulated, high-volume information platforms.
  • Experience with Box or comparable ECM platforms, Mobius or legacy repository migrations, dynamic PDF generation, OCR/IDP, DocuSign and eOriginal or analogous e-vaulting technologies.
  • Experience designing cloud-native, highly available services with APIs, asynchronous pipelines, monitoring, security controls, disaster recovery and automated deployments.
  • Experience simplifying large document estates and legacy forms engines while preserving accessibility, metadata, retention, auditability and data integrity.
  • Experience assessing IDP classification and extraction quality, near-real-time feedback, fraud indicators, exception review, model governance and vendor latency/cost tradeoffs.
  • Track record of developing engineering leaders and scaling AI-assisted development practices with appropriate review, testing, governance and measurable delivery outcomes.
  • Demonstrated success partnering across Product, Operations, Architecture, Security, Compliance, Risk and external technology providers.

Responsibilities

  • Define the enterprise document technology strategy, target architecture, platform boundaries and executable roadmap across the document lifecycle.
  • Lead Box-based migration, including high-volume upload and retrieval, document-type rationalization, retention and metadata governance, safe cutover from Mobius and ELF, and decommissioning of redundant legacy assets.
  • Own reliable document intake and rapid cross-platform retrieval for branches, digital origination, servicing and downstream platforms; improve image quality and PDF optimization to reduce rework.
  • Modernize dynamic document generation with reusable APIs and governed self-service templates, enabling faster business and regulatory changes and reducing engineering dependency while retiring CLASS forms technology.
  • Industrialize intelligent document processing at enterprise scale, with measurable classification and extraction accuracy, latency, completeness and readability controls, exception workbenches, fraud-review routing and human oversight.
  • Integrate e-signature and authoritative-copy vaulting into origination and servicing journeys, ensuring legal custody, tamper evidence, chain of control and complete audit trails.
  • Engineer for high availability, throughput, recoverability, observability, secure access, immutable auditability and data integrity across vendors, document events and asynchronous services.
  • Establish AI-enabled engineering practices across the full product development lifecycle, including AI-assisted discovery, design, coding, test generation, code review, documentation and operations, with human accountability, security controls and measurable gains in speed and quality.
  • Partner with Originations, Servicing, Product, Operations, Risk and Compliance to simplify manual processes, improve frontline workflows and deliver measurable customer and business outcomes.
  • Own vendor strategy and economics across Box, IDP providers, DocuSign, eOriginal and adjacent document technologies; assess integration complexity, service levels, per-document costs and build-versus-buy tradeoffs.
  • Grow engineering leaders and teams while ensuring privacy, records retention, access controls, regulatory compliance, data lineage and accountable platform ownership.
  • Foster a collaborative engineering culture that attracts talent, encourages creativity and experimentation, celebrates successes and supports continuous learning and innovation.
  • Lead managers and senior technical leaders; build high-performing engineering organizations and drive talent development, succession planning and organizational effectiveness.
  • Own engineering budgets, vendor relationships, operational resilience, regulatory compliance and delivery commitments.
